Tip: Use the word understood when you are 98% sure but want to clarify the instruction. The controller will pay attention when you say understood. The controller will quickly confirm that the read back was correct or would correct you where you are wrong. Avoid using the phrase “Say Again” if you understood most of the clearance.

Tip: Remember that Amend comes from the word Amendment which means a change. Sometimes you could expect to receive the amendment followed by “rest of the clearance unchanged.” This means that only that part of the clearance is now different.
