
In this picture I can see an aircraft engine the engine cowling is missing. The engine is blue.
This photo was taken from inside the aircraft probably by a passenger, it was taken during a flight as we can see the aircraft was airborne.
In the background I can see clouds and the ground below the plane. I remember this situation happened here in Brazil on a Tam flight.
This was caused because both the inboard and outboard fan cowl doors of the left engine opened in flight and were ripped off.
The consequences were passengers panicked but the pilot was able to return to the airport safely but the company would have faced a large cost to fix the aircraft.
If I were the pilot I would return to the airport as soon as possible and inform the passengers that everything was under control to prevent many people panicking.
