In this picture I can see a Boeing 737 on final approach I say that because the landing gear and flaps are extended.

The aircraft is a narrow body plane and belongs to Continental. Its white and blue.

The right-hand engine was on fire when the photo was taken.

In the background I can see the sky was clear.

This can be caused by a bird ingestion or a compressor stall.

The consequences can be panic on-board the fire can spread and cause structural damage and the aircraft will be grounded for maintenance work.

If I were the pilot first I would shut down the engine then I would extinguish the fire and I would land at the nearest airport.

I have never had this situation.

MANY PILOTS CONSIDER THIS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO FACE TO WHAT EXTENT DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT ?

 

I AGREE AS IT CAN CAUSE PANIC ON-BOARD AND IF THE PILOTS ARE UNABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE IT CAN SPREAD AND CAUSE A DISASTER.

 

HOW WILL TECHNOLOGY IMPROVE IN THE FUTURE TO PREVENT THIS SITUATION ?

 

IN MY OPINION, IN THE FUTURE TECHNOLOGY WILL BE MORE ADVANCED TO ASSIST PILOTS IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS AND THERE WILL BE MORE WARNING SOUNDS AND LIGHTS TO ALERT THE PILOTS.
