This picture shows an Avro RJ85. The aircraft was having a tail strike during the landing phase. The aircraft belongs to City Jet it is white and has four engines.

The photo was taken while the aircraft was still moving.

I say that because behind the aircraft the image is distorted due to the speed the aircraft was at.

Talking about what was happening here the pilots faced a tail strike that was possibly caused by weight and balance problems, excessive rotation rate or a hard landing this could lead to aircraft damage, runway closed, flight delays and cancelations.

From my point of view, a tail strike can cause severe delays in airports, as the runway would probably be closed.

I imagine after this picture was taken the aircraft stopped on the runway, the pilot requested service and the runway was closed.

The pilots will continue to land normally, inform the controller about the situation and request maintenance assistance at the gate to check what damage was caused to the aircraft.
