In this picture I can see an Airbus A340.

The aircraft is white and blue. The aircraft livery is also printed on the fuselage. I think this aircraft belongs to the Airbus manufacturer.

This A340 was taking off and as the photo was taken they were experiencing a tail strike.

In the background I can see trees, grass, some buildings a tower, and I can see that the weather appears to be good as the sky is clear.

In the foreground I can see a taxiway and dry earth.

This can be caused by:

• A weight and balance problem or
• early rotation of the aircraft.

The consequences of a tail strike can be:

• Severe damage to the aircraft – The aircraft will have to be checked and maybe go through maintenance and finally flight cancelations.

But I believe this tail strike was done purposely as it appears to be a test flight that Airbus must do to check the aircraft limits.

I have never had this situation.

In my opinion, it’s very important as pilots must know the aircraft limits to perform safe flights.
