In this picture I can see a Boeing 727, which is a narrow-body, three-engine jet aircraft. It belongs to AeroGal as I can see it printed on the fuselage.
It seems the engines and the windshield are protected to prevent damage from the volcanic ash.
The same ash is covering all the aircraft body.
I can also see there is a tug attached to the nose landing gear, which means the aircraft is going to be removed from the apron – probably to an indoor area where it could be cleaned and protected from the volcanic dust.
In front of the main focus I can see the apron is covered in volcanic ash and the background appears to be foggy probably due to the volcanic eruption.
In your opinion, what was happening before this picture was taken?
Talking about what was happening before the picture was taken, probably the aircraft was performing a flight when the pilot got the message from the ATC asking them to divert to the nearest airport and disembark all passengers due to the volcano activity. Or perhaps, the aircraft was just parked on the apron when it got hit by volcanic ash.
What do you think will happen next?
As far as I can see, I can predict the aircraft is going to be removed to a safer place, and it will probably be cleaned by the company staff.
In case the engines shut down after being hit by volcanic ash, is it possible to get them re-started? Why?
Yes. Depending on the situation it is possible to re-start the engines once the aircraft gets out of the volcanic ash. However, this is a very serious and dangerous situation and must be avoided at any cost.
