In this picture I see a B747 that belongs to Southern Air performing a landing on a snowy runway.

The aircraft is white and the tail is blue and the company livery is printed on the fuselage. This is a wide body aircraft that has 4 engines and the flaps are set in the landing configuration.

The nose landing gear hasn’t touched the runway yet and I see the spoilers are opening. The ground is covered in snow, and the engines are spraying it into the air.

On the right side of the picture I can see part of the terminal and the tower.

The pilots need to go through special training for this kind of landing and they must follow specific procedures to avoid skidding off the runway, as a Brazilian pilot I have never experienced this situation before.

Before the picture was taken the pilots were probably, preparing the cockpit for landing, requesting clearance and following all of the procedures to perform a safe landing.

The pilots will stop the aircraft, they will taxi to the gate and when all of the passengers have disembarked the crew will leave the aircraft.

I disagree as pilots who operate in the winter are trained to know what procedures to follow and generally they will always request to do the de-icing procedure before take off.
