In this picture, I can see a military aircraft belonging to the U.S. Navy.
I can see the livery painted on the aircraft, as well as Blue Angels painted on the front of the fuselage. The aircraft is all Navy blue with gold details.
There is also the number four painted on the tail and a gold stripe on the top of the tail.
I can also see many flames around the belly of the aircraft.
This is an aerobatic aircraft.
In the background, I can see clear skies, some trees, and a media van. In the foreground, I can only see dry grass.
This aircraft seems to have suffered a belly landing, which has caused the belly of the aircraft to burst into flames on the ground.
In your opinion, what was happening before this picture was taken?
I believe that before this picture was taken this aircraft was performing some type of military procedure and suffered a jammed landing gear or even hydraulic failure. After following the appropriate procedures, the pilot was not able to extend the landing gear and had to perform an emergency belly landing.
What do you think will happen next?
I believe what will happen next is that the aircraft will come to a stop, and the pilots will immediately evacuate the aircraft. The emergency and fire crews will go into action to try to extinguish the flames before there is an explosion. Then the investigation process will initiate.
What are the dangers of a belly landing?
During a belly landing, there is normally extensive damage to the airplane. Moreover, a belly landing carries the risk of that the aircraft may flip over, disintegrate or even catch fire if it lands too fast or too hard.
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: Aerobatic demonstrations should not be permitted for the sole purpose of entertainment.
I do not agree with this statement because I believe this promotes interest in aviation from the public. Accidents are extremely rare, and this would create confidence in aviation because these aircraft can perform these maneuvers safely. The military is also able to test the limits of these aircraft as well as train the pilots to perform these maneuvers.
I agree with this statement because I believe that putting pilots lives at risk for the sole purpose of entertaining is unnecessary. I believe you not only put the pilot’s lives at risk, but you also place the watching public’s lives at risk.
